Voice Out: A Youth Media Arts Exhibition – Opening Weekend Events

Friday, May 15th and Saturday May 16th

Voice Out is OTL’s annual juried youth media arts exhibition, showcasing photography, digital illustration, and mixed media created by San Diego artists ages 8–25. This year, through the lens of Wonder, we celebrate nearly 200 submissions and 25 years of amplifying youth voice.

Jerry Moore from the new SOL market in Liberty Station rocked a 20 minute guest lecture in two of our Outside The Lens classes today. He spoke about developing a logo and marketing pieces as part of our Picture it Healthy Program.

FOTO TJ Book

We created images that represent who we are, and wrote poems about our past. We met folks with unsteady health conditions who taught us about endurance, perseverance, and the joy of life. We explored Tijuana - a city filled with colors, flavors, and smells. We learned about local art, walked through the streets, and captured images that were always intriguing and in some cases new and innovative. After our journey, we had a final exhibit where we talked about our work and why it is important to continue creating images that represent who we are!
