This July Outside The Lens photographer Katie Gardner (katiegardnerphoto.com) hosted a summer camp on the Military Base in Point Loma where she taught kids different ways to photograph their subjects. One way included trick photos (pictured above) in which you change the perspectives of different objects to make it appear as if something is not what it seems. The kids also learned the different styles of several artists such as Warhol, Hockney and Manray and then took pictures in all of the styles. At the end of this week long camp they walked away with a very full artist’s portfolio, much up to par with the professionals.
