Outside The Lens Announces Panelists for “Voice Out” Community Conversation on “Place”

SAN DIEGO, California, May 1, 2024—Outside The Lens announced today the panelists who will lead the conversation on the theme of “Place” at this month’s “Voice Out” event. Panelists Megan Groth, Liliana Hueso, and Eyal Brower all have strong connections to the San Diego+Tijuana region and to the media arts. The panel will be moderated by Outside The Lens Executive Director, Sarah Beckman. The discussion will take place on May 18th, 2024 at 5 p.m., as part of “Voice Out,” a free youth media art exhibition happening that day from 4-7 p.m. at The Wonder Lab, a media arts hub in San Diego’s East Village.
Panelist Megan Groth is an architect, urbanist and author of the new book “Places We Love: San Diego Tijuana”. She received her Master’s of Architecture from the University of Washington and a Master’s of City Design from the London School of Economics. Megan has taught professional practice at Woodbury University in San Diego and Burbank, and design studios at Oxford Brookes University in the UK.
Panelist Liliana Hueso is a California native who has resided on the West Coast of the USA and Mexico. A professional photographer, community organizer, and educator, she proudly identifies as an artivist. Boasting a robust background of over two decades in non-profit organizations, Liliana has traversed therealms of education, youth engagement, art, advocacy, and community empowerment through various events.
Panelist Eyal Brower is an avid photographer, a member of the OTL Youth Council, and a student at High Tech High. He has a deep passion for photography and exploring new places around the world, and hopes to carry these passions into his career.
Panel moderator Sarah Beckman earned her JBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where she studied journalism, advertising, and gender studies—providing a strong foundation for working at the intersection of critical social issues, informed communication, and creative expression.
